2009 Friday Pre-Registered Classes

The descriptions below are for the classes held in 2009.

Plan to bring a basic tool kit, unless the instructor has specified what to bring on the page with their pictures.
Walk-ins for Friday classes are allowed, but we cannot guarantee 
all teachers will be able to accommodate them.

 

Class #1 - Basic Silver Soldering and
Triple Curved Desk Lamp with Jim Pounder, IGMA Artisan 

Cost:  $77.00      Scale:  1"      Time: 9:30AM - 5:30PM

Students will learn the techniques of soft soldering and silver soldering with a master. The lamp itself will be created using five silver solder joints and electrical wiring connections, in this fun class. Participants will have a finished working desk lamp to take home at a very reasonable price.

Class #2 - Treehouse Centerpiece by Joan Wheatley, IGMA Artisan
Cost:  $97.00      Scale:  1/4"      Time: 11:30AM - 3:30PM
 
Students will learn how to turn ordinary egg cartons into realistic tree bark and create a lovely and unique treehouse.  The centerpiece will be set on a pre-decorated 9" plate.  Joan is our resident expert on creating wonderful woodsy miniatures.

Class #3 - Porcelain Marie Antoinette Doll with Judy Orr

Cost:  $102.00      Size:  1 3/4"      Time: 9:30AM - 5:30PM
 
Join Judy Orr in creating a precious porcelain Marie Antoinette Doll.  Students will construct and dress the doll using fabric and ribbon.  This lovely little doll would be appropriate as a tall ¼” scale person, an adorable child or child’s dolly in ½” scale, or a really sweet dolly in 1” scale.

Class #4 - Maison De Vine Rose (House of Rose Wine) by Karen Carey

Cost:  $99.00      Scale:  1/4"      Time: 9:30AM - 5:30PM
 
In this workshop, students will build a quaint Wine Cellar bar with a patio and typical Paris sidewalk. Included are a wine-barrel rack with 9 barrels, brass foot-rail bar, chairs and tables (some with umbrellas). These will need to be completed at home. Students will learn to make wisteria vines and flowers. Laser-cut wood pieces and paper-printed bricks, patio, sidewalk, wallpaper and floor are included. Learn to weather wood, use wood stain pens and paint using sharpie pens. Everything shown is included with the exception of the wine bottles, glasses, food and standing barrel. Paints and aging solution will be provided.

Class #5 - Punch Needle Rug with Sallie Evans, IGMA Fellow

Cost:  $57.00      Scale:  1"      Time: 1PM - 5PM
Learn from the best how to make a hooked rug in miniature, using the punch needle process. Sallie will provide the entire kit, pattern, materials, and floss for you to make this sweet little rug. If you don’t have a punch needle already, she will have them available for $20. The flower basket design lends itself to most indoor settings, and Sallie is a fun teacher.

Class #6 - Plenty of Pillows with Judee Williamson & Nicole Walton Marble

Cost:  $107.00      Scale:  1"      Time: 9:30AM - 5:30PM
 
Pillows are todays most important room accessory, so join Judee Williamson, Americas foremost mini fabric expert, and make pillows of many styles and designs. Button pillow, ribbon pillow, the pocket pillow (great for a kids room), the envelope pillow, pillow in a pillow, and the challenging woven leather pillow. So join us and accessorize your rooms!

Class #7 - Vintage Desk Set with Valerie Casson

Cost:  $37.00      Scale:  1"      Time: 9:30AM - 12:30PM
 
Learn how to create a vintage desk set that includes a letter rack and desk blotter. The letter rack can be painted in a number of ways, filled with a variety of paper, envelopes and photographs.

The blotter is created using marbled paper. Letters, envelopes, and related items will be available to place in it. No two will be the same!

Class #8 - Vintage Style Tuffet with Valerie Casson

Cost:  $52.00      Scale:  1"      Time: 2PM - 5PM
 
Work with Valerie Casson on Part II of her 2009 workshop--a vintage style tuffet. Students will have a number of different coordinating silk fabrics to choose from to create their lovely oval stool. The stool will be finished with a swagged braid caught with tassels and a fringed bottom edge.
